Tumbling Instructor

JOB SUMMARY: A tumbling instructor is responsible for assuring the safety of all participants in his/her class. Each instructor will create a fun and educated environment. The instructor will follow the classes guidelines and make sure every individual receives attention and coaching during the class period. The instructor is expected to instruct, create, and progress classes with input and final decisions made by the Tumbling Coordinator. Experience with either supervision or teaching of child is a plus. Must have the physical capabilities to demonstrate and lead activities as well as spotting and supporting the students physically as they attempt the moves.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: CPR & First Aid Certified, child abuse prevention, USTA safety certified and USTA floor, double mini, and trampoline certification. (Will provide Training)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Being able to perform and demonstrate tumbling moves- would be helpful, but not mandatory.

Lifeguard

JOB SUMMARY: The applicant is expected to maintain and protect the safety and well-being of each patron using the Link Aquatic Center facilities. The applicant will work directly with participants providing courteous, friendly, and professional assistance. Lifeguards work under the direct supervision of the Pool Supervisor and Aquatic Director,

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be 16 years of age or older, CPR & First aid certified required, Ability to pass the Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training Program, Ability to maintain certification level for physical and mental readiness, ability to swim with proficiency and endurance for possible rescues, and must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react quickly in an emergency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: For frequent periods of time: twisting body, standing, squatting, sitting, running, kneeling, grasping, climbing, reading, decisions making, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 80 pounds, carrying up to 50 pounds; using both hands for simple firm grasping, find finger manipulation, hearing clarity, exposures to fumes, orders, mechanical, electrical, explosive chemical hazards, operation of a calculator, hand tools and moderate janitorial duties. Vision must be 20/20 or correctable with eyeglasses/lenses and wear correction at all times while working.  Applicant will be working indoors in a variety of environmental conditions including; high temperatures, humidity, moisture, and distracting/loud noises.

Youth Sports Staff

JOB SUMMARY: The youth sports/activities staff will be responsible for the general operation of youth programs. The youth sports/activities staff is under the youth staff coordinator. Hours are determined as needed, part-time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be 16 years old and older, CPR & First aid certified, prior experience working with youth preferred, and ability to speak effectively to groups.

Building Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: This person is responsible for the safety of all members, guests, and staff in the YMCA facility. The building supervisor is an ambassador for the YMCA and should ensure high standards of customer service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 18 years or older, CPR & First Aid certified, good communication skills, ability to supervise, mature enough to handle a variety of issues that may arise in the facility.

Janitorial Staff

JOB SUMMARY: Janitorial/Floor Team-under the direction of the Janitorial Supervisor; ensure effective physical cleanliness of all assigned facilities. Perform routine cleaning as required. Inform management of any foreseeable problems with the facility. Ensure excellent member service by addressing member concerns in a timely fashion and providing a clean and safe facility.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, must be able to read and write, must be able to understand and follow directions pertaining to the use of chemicals and machinery, must have a valid driver’s license, and 1 year janitorial/floor experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to life 25 pounds, Must be able to use light, power-operated or manual cleaning/janitorial equipment such as an auto scrubber, floor buffer, floor burnished, power washer, swing machine, vacuum, screwdriver, hammer, ect.

Personal Trainer

JOB SUMMARY: Promote health & wellness to all YMCA members by helping to improve fitness levels of individuals

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Have PT certification through a national company and maintain status.  CPR & First Aid Certified

Essential Functions: Conduct fitness consultations/assessment; develop individualized programs to ensure safety and enhancement of personal fitness goals; motivate clients and arrive for personal training sessions promptly.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Good physical strength, flexibility and agility in order to best demonstrate workouts for their clients

Certification Procedure:  The Illinois Valley YMCA will pay for a group exercise instructor or personal trainer to become certified to lead a particular class or lead personal training.

If the individual leaves before teaching one year they must pay the entire certification fee back.

If the individual leaves before two years of teaching they must pay 75% back. If the individual leaves before three years of teaching they must pay %50 back. If the individual leaves before four plus years of teaching they must pay25% back.

If the Illinois Valley YMCA pays for a certification, the individual may only lead classes at the Illinois Valley YMCA.
