All of our instructors are certified in CPR and first aid through the American Heart Association. The instructors are specifically trained to teach beginner through advanced levels of tumbling and have monthly safety and spotting evaluations.

Illinois Valley Y Tumbling and Trampoline offers recreational and competitive tumbling and trampoline classes for boys and girls starting at the age of two. Children who wish to compete locally, throughout surrounding states, and nationally are encouraged to join our extremely successful team program. All coaches are carefully trained and U.S.T.A (United States Tumbling & Trampoline) safety certified and also holds CPR and first aid through the American Heart Association. The instructors are specifically trained to teach beginner through advanced levels or tumbling and trampoline and have monthly safety and spotting evaluations. Tumbling and trampoline classes have many benefits for your child, which include increased flexibility, balance, strength, coordination, social skills, and confidence!

The Y offers a Tumble Track, Double-Mini Trampoline and Trampoline Training. Double-Mini and Trampoline are competitive events in the United States Tumbling Association and USA Gymnastics. The Tumble Track is a great tool used to improve tumbling skills.


Program Information

What do I need to bring to class?

A leotard is required to be warn to class for safety purpose. When spotting an athlete, their t-shirt can become wrapped around the instructors arm causing not only injury to the instructor but also the athlete. Leotards are sold in the tumbling room and must b purchased with cash or check. Socks are to be worn by all athletes when using the trampolines. A water bottle can be brought to class to get quick drink in-between events.

What does the Illinois Valley Tumbling Program offer?

The Y offers a tumble trak, double-mini trampoline, trampoline, rod floor, and foam floor. All equipment is used during each class to benefit and expand your child’s learning.

Tumbling Evaluations

Before your child is allowed to sign up for a tumbling class they must meet with Jessica Brucki and staff so they can assess their tumbling and trampoline skills. By doing this, they can assure that your child is placed into the correct class level to maximize their learning experience at the IVYMCA. Space is limited to 10 kids per class with two teachers per class. Please contact Jessica Brucki and staff at 815-223-7904 x 39 to schedule an evaluation time

Tumbling Class Levels


Designed for children 2 and up who are able to participate in a 60 minute class without parent participation. Parents are required to stay through the class.


5+; students learn correct form for tuck rolls, straddle rolls, cartwheels and back bends.

Advanced Beginner

Students are proficient at all beginners’ skills and are able to do their standing backbend without instructor assistance.


Students are able to perform one back handspring and begin connecting rows and learning back tucks and front tucks.

Fall Tumbling Events

Open gyms

Bring your child to learn the basics of tumbling and trampoline! Fine tune motor skills and get to know the Illinois Valley YMCA tumbling and trampoline program. Preschool open gym is offered once a month and provides access to all the trampolines and obstacle courses for a whole year of fun! There will be a max of 16 kids per  Open Gym, sign up at the front desk to save your spot!

Ages: Preschool; 6 and under
Time: 4-5pm
Cost: $5/YMCA Members & $7/Non YMCA Members

Flip Flop Friday

Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to develop strength and technique to successfully complete the flip-flop. We will work on standing flip-flops, round off flip-flops, and multiple connecting flip-flops. Our trained staff will teach using the trampoline, tumbling tack and our rod floor.
